The values entered on the bridge when a fishing station is stopped (the card by the winch panel). Turn a field off when its sensor is out of service — old stations keep their data. Auto pre-fills the field from the measured average.
The old SIS asked for its header before anything ran, for good reason: these are the facts nobody can reconstruct afterwards. A ticked field must be filled in before START STATION will do anything — and the server refuses it too, so it cannot be clicked past from a stale tab.
Add, edit or remove the station types available when starting a station. The description is just a note for the crew.

Written to data\events\, separate from the raw
data and never rotated away. Each instrument has its own alarm delay
(Alarm after under Data & Instruments), so a short gap is not a dropout.
Opens each source for a few seconds and reports what came back. It tells apart the two things that feel identical on board: a channel somebody else already holds, and a channel that is free but whose instrument is switched off. Checking briefly occupies a slot itself, so it runs one port at a time — never in parallel.
Your own notes, kept with the data. Write whatever you want — they are saved in the data folder, so they follow the mirror to the shared drive and go into cruise backups instead of disappearing with a scrap of paper. Every note is stamped with the date; a heading and your initials are optional. Attach ports is for the one note that matters most later: it stores the exact instrument setup as it is right now, so the port map can never be a typo.
Shared with the server — anything defined in the server control panel appears here automatically, and vice versa. Use Test to listen on a port for a few seconds and see the actual decoded data.
ONLINE means data arrived within the last few seconds. It does not prove the data is correct — use Test above to check the actual content.

The interface can update itself from the internet, so nobody has to copy files onto the ship. The logging is never interrupted — and with no internet the system simply keeps running the version it has.

Only change this if you are opening the interface from another PC and need to point it at the server. It affects this browser only — it does not move anything on the server. Get it wrong and this screen goes blank; the way back is the Backend server field on the login screen.
Files written before the cruise header existed only say which instrument they came from. This fills in cruise, crew and dates — data lines are never touched. The button only looks; it shows you the full list and explains itself before anything is written.
The path is on the server PC, not on the machine you are sitting at. Browse walks that PC's folders, so you never have to guess a path. Existing recordings are not moved: logging simply continues in the new folder, and the old one stays exactly as it is. Point it at a folder that already holds DANA MINI-SIS data and the cruises and stations there come back.
These buttons open Windows Explorer on the server PC (where the logging runs).

The .dat files keep the raw sounder reading, so the
old format is untouched. 0 = add nothing.
Rebuild stations from a raw Scanmar recording — for example a long PuTTY log from a trip where the hauls were only written down on paper. Load the file, type in the stations from your notes, and the data for each haul is pulled out with the same charts and extracts as a live station.

For activities written down by hand before the system was logging. There is no recorded data behind these — only what you type — so they are always marked MANUAL and can never be mistaken for a logged station.
One row per station. Every export carries the cruise details in its header — leader, technician, captain, dates — so a file that turns up on a backup drive in five years can still say where it came from.

You can look at earlier cruises here. Recording is not affected — it always continues on the current cruise.

Everything here is read-only — the check never changes a setting. If something is wrong, press Copy for support and paste the text into a message; it contains what failed and what to try.
What this does. Every data file starts with a few comment lines saying where it came from. Files written before DANA MINI-SIS knew about cruises only name the instrument — so years later there is no way to tell which cruise, which crew or which dates they belong to. This writes that block into the top of those files.
What it does not do. Not a single measurement is touched — only comment lines above the data. Files that already carry the block are skipped, so running it twice changes nothing. A file whose cruise cannot be determined with certainty is left alone: guessing on research data is worse than leaving it blank.
DANA MINI-SIS runs on one PC on board — the one wired to the instruments. This screen is just a window onto it, so it needs that PC's address.

This cannot be undone. The recorded files stay on disk, but the cruise and its station list are removed from DANA MINI-SIS.

The right-hand box is the actual file written to disk.
The default names (canetot.dat, mettot.dat …)
are the ones the old WinCollect used, so existing tools and year-long
time series find them — only rename if you know what reads the
file. Renaming starts a new file; the old one is left untouched.
Clear the box to go back to the default.
Save every is how often a reading is written to the
.dat file — the old program used 240 s. Setting it slower
than the instrument sends throws measurements away, so the panel warns when it
would. Screen is only how often the numbers and graphs redraw; it never
affects what is stored.
Names come from the WinCollect overview. Correct them here if an
instrument on board measures something else — the .dat files are
unaffected, only what you see.
